HIL technology moves to forefront of EV testing
Major automotive manufacturers like Subaru are using NI hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) technology to simulate actual road conditions for electric vehicle testing, eliminating environmental factors to reduce test time and costs. Traditionally, engineers have conducted vehicle tests using finished cars on test courses or public roads to check the vehicle’s performance and safety response.
Sub-6GHz 5G NR test solution is 3GPP-compliant
At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona National Instruments announced a sub-6GHz test reference solution compliant with the 3GPP Release 15 specification for 5G New Radio (NR). With commercial 5G NR deployments below 6GHz on the horizon engineers are actively developing sub-6GHz RF components and devices.
Source measure unit enhances semiconductor testing
Endeavouring to offer more efficient approaches to semiconductor test, NI has announced the PXIe-4163 high-density source measure unit (SMU), which provides six times more DC channel density than previous NI PXI SMUs for testing RF, MEMS, and mixed-signal and other analogue semiconductor components.
NI, Shanghai University collaborate on 5G testbed
NI is to collaborate with Shanghai University on a testbed focused on 5G ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC) for V2X applications. Vehicular networks, especially for autonomous driving applications, must offer ultra-reliability while requiring very low latency.
Design software customises device tests
A release of LabVIEW NXG, the next generation of LabVIEW engineering system design software from National Instruments enables engineers to quickly set up instruments, customise tests to device specifications, and easily view results from any web browser, on any device.
What will be the technology trends of 2018?
Provider of platform-based systems that enable engineers and scientists to solve the world’s greatest engineering challenges, NI, has announced the release of NI Trend Watch 2018. The report examines the technological advances propelling our future faster than ever before along with some of the biggest challenges engineers face looking ahead to 2018.
Devices collect synchronised data in severe environments
Rugged, distributed and synchronised FieldDAQ devices have been released by NI. The growing sophistication of complex electromechanical systems, such as vehicles, aircraft and industrial equipment, means that validation test must become more rigorous to keep pace with innovation.
IP67 reliability enhances industrial controller
The IC-3173 Industrial Controller is NI’s first IP67-rated controller. It is ideally suited to act as an Industrial Internet of Things edge node in extremely harsh locations including spray down manufacturing environments, test cells and outdoor locations without the need for a protective enclosure. The IP67 rating helps ensure reliable operation in the presence of dust and water, in accordance to IEC standard 60529.
Quieter PXIe chassis offers 58W of power per slot
The PXIe-1095 chassis from National Instruments (NI) offers 58W of dedicated power and cooling per slot. This represents a 50% increase in power and cooling per slot compared to previously released NI PXI Express chassis. In addition to higher power, the chassis also features a significant reduction in fan noise in its 38W cooling profile mode, delivering a 13dB improvement compared to the previously released PXIe-1085 chassis and making it NI&rs...
NI cooperates with industrial giants to build IIoT ecosystem
If there is an industry that can embody a country’s comprehensive national strength most typically and gradually reconstruct the new pattern of global competitiveness, it is intelligent manufacturing. The second Made in China 2025 (Shenzhen) Summit Forum themed by 'Smart Transformation of Global Manufacturing' was convened as scheduled on 8th and 9th April.
Digitisers, modules utilise latest FPGA technology
A PXI FlexRIO architecture that integrates mezzanine I/O modules with Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGAs has been released by National Instruments (NI). The first wave of products based on this new architecture includes two high-resolution PXI FlexRIO Digitisers, three dedicated PXI FlexRIO Coprocessor Modules and a module development kit that helps with custom front-end development.
Software suite cuts data measurement time by 10 hours
The Data Management Software Suite has been released by National Instruments (NI). This enterprise software solution offers a complete workflow to standardise measurement data across teams, mine that data for useful information, transform the data through automated analysis and deliver reports with valuable insight.
It’s time to overdesign for flexibility
Tired of the countless articles talking about the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)? Surely all of the pundits, industry leading companies, and technology providers excited to share their perspective on the growing impact of the IIoT have exhausted the topic.
