18V DC/DC converter delivers 95% efficiency

Linear Technology announces the LTC3119, a synchronous current mode monolithic buck-boost converter that delivers up to 5A of continuous output current in buck mode from a wide variety of input sources, including single- or multiple-cell batteries, unregulated wall adapters as well as solar panels and supercapacitors. The device’s 2.5V to 18V input voltage range extends down to 250mV once started.

38V input synchronous boost controller operates at 150°C

Linear Technology announces the H-grade versions of the LTC3786, a synchronous step-up DC/DC controller with guaranteed operation for junction temperatures up to 150°C. The LTC3786 replaces the boost diode with an N-channel MOSFET for higher efficiency and reduced power loss. This controller can produce 24V at 5A output from a 12V input with up to 98% efficiency, ideal for automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

Precision voltage reference drives up to 200mA

A precision voltage reference that incorporates two high current output buffers has been announced by Linear Technology. Based on a 2.5V bandgap voltage reference, each output of the LT6658 can be separately configured for any voltage between 2.5V and 6V. Both outputs offer 0.05% initial accuracy, 10ppm/°C temperature drift and 1.5ppm of low frequency noise.

4Mb/s CAN FD µModule isolator improves system reliability

Linear introduces the LTM2889, a fully ISO 11898-2 compliant CAN µModule transceiver and isolator that guards against large ground-to-ground differentials and common mode transients in 3.3V or 5V applications. Automotive DC/DC controller increases available power

The LTC3871, a 100V/30V bidirectional two phase synchronous buck or boost controller, ideal for 48V/12V automotive dual battery systems has been announced by Linear Technology. Current 12V automotive systems are reaching their 3kW power limit due to the ever-increasing demand for more electrical devices. A newly proposed standard, LV148, combines a secondary 48V bus with the existing 12V system.

DC/DC converter regulates current within a string of LED lights

  The LT3922 is a monolithic, synchronous, step-up DC/DC converter with internal 40V, 2A power switches and an internal PWM generator. Its fixed frequency peak current mode control accurately regulates current within ±2% for a string of LEDs up to 34V.

Temperature measurement IC linearises sensors to 0.1°C conformity

The LTC2986 high performance digital temperature measurement IC, which directly digitises any combination of thermocouples, RTDs, thermistors and external diodes with 0.1°C conformity and 0.001°C resolution has been introduced by Linear Technology. The LTC2986 builds on the award-winning LTC2983 and LTC2984 by adding three new operating modes and reducing the number of analogue inputs from 20 channels to 10 channels.

30A supply monitor integrates 300µΩ sense resistor

Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC2947 power and energy monitor for 0-15VDC supply rails. Most power and energy monitoring ICs use an external sense resistor to measure current. However, choosing a sense resistor is not an easy task, especially when dealing with high currents, where available sense resistors can dissipate too much power, occupy a lot of board space or have a large impact on measurement accuracy.
