Connectivity solution enables a multiplayer user experience
A dual-band 802.11ac combo solution is now in production by Cypress Semiconductor which delivers high-speed WiFi and Bluetooth connections using advanced Bluetooth and WiFi coexistence algorithms. The solution is used in the new Nintendo Switch gaming system to support online gaming and communication to the Joy-Con controllers. The Nintendo Switch system, with its multiple configurations and portable controllers, needed a careful and innovative design to deliver the smooth user experience gamers expect.

BLE module extends the range of Bluetooth to 400m
Cypress Semiconductor has introduced a BLE module solution that extends the range of Bluetooth to 400m, eight times that of current Bluetooth solutions. The EZ-BLE PSoC XT/XR module’s extended range opens up the use of Bluetooth connectivity to home automation, industrial and smart city applications. E.g., it enables a parking meter to receive payments via the Bluetooth connections on smartphones, while also reporting in to a central hub that covers a city block.

BLE solutions for the IoT offer double the memory capacity

Cypress Semiconductor has announced its highly integrated, single-chip BLE solutions for the IoT and other wireless applications now offer double the memory capacity. The PSoC 4 BLE Programmable SoC and PRoC BLE Programmable RoC solutions each now have options with 256KB of flash and 32KB of SRAM, giving designers added flexibility by enabling OTA firmware upgrades without the need for external memory. The offerings are pin-to-pin compatible with the company’s original BLE solutions, simplifying upgrades.

PRoC-UI lowers bill-of-materials costs for the keyboard by providing superior touch performance with support for Windows 8 compatible multi-touch gestures along with best-in-class wireless connectivity in a single chip. The RF6496 also employs Cypress’s enCoRe V low-voltage companion microcontroller for its mechanical buttons

Cypress Semiconductor today announced that ITON Technology has selected Cypress’s 2.4-GHz WirelessUSB-NL radio-on-a-chip for its complete module for wireless mice. The module includes firmware, providing customers with a turnkey solution to create their own end-products. The low power consumption of the WirelessUSB-NL solution helps the module enable mice to operate for up to three years on two AA batteries.
