Laird Technologies, Inc. today announced the release of its new OC51505 vertically polarized direct mount omnidirectional antenna.
The antenna operates in the 5150 to 5875 MHz band with 5 dBi gain and linear vertical polarization (VPOL). VPOL increases the range of the antenna over hilly terrain and also minimizes the reception of interfering horizontally polarized (HPOL) UHF and VHF signals that are common in densely populated areas. The OC51505 is specifically designed to be used in indoor or outdoor WLAN applications

“The OC51505 is a vertically polarized omnidriectional antenna that offers full 802.11a wideband performance,” said Mark Miller, Laird Technologies Infrastructure Antenna Systems Product Manager. “Its 5 GHz broadband WLAN performance measures up to the demands of interior and exterior mounted wireless network systems such as those found on college campuses, airports, hospitals, and transportation centers.”

It’s rugged, lightweight; UV water resistant housing is fitted with an integrated RF connector that is embedded in the base cap for direct mounting to WLAN access points. Special venting permits either upright or inverted orientation in outdoor locations. The OC51505 may also be pole-mounted when separation from the AP is required for optimum positioning.

An industry leader in the design and manufacture of antennas for mobile devices and wireless data, Laird Technologies possesses end-to-end system knowledge and employs advanced, proprietary design tools to bring novel antenna designs to market with unmatched performance that maximize total system performance and user satisfaction.
