IoT market continues to expand with new verification services

The integrity and reliability of IoT devices will be further guaranteed by oneM2M’s global certification body, Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), as it adds oneM2M conformance testing to its expanding certification programme.

The conformance testing was successfully performed on Chordant, an InterDigital business that offers a oneM2M-based platform, using the Spirent TTsuite-oneM2M, which is a solution based on the test automation platform TTworkbench.

Chordant was the first product to be certified following the expanded certification programme and will be used as the golden reference for future test system validation. Additionally, TTsuite-oneM2M was designated as the first authorised test system for conformance testing.

“By cooperating with InterDigital and Spirent Communications, two global leading companies, TTA has expanded its oneM2M certification programme to include conformance testing,” said TTA President Park-Jae-Moon. “This will not only foster interoperability in the global IoT market and ensure higher integrity and reliability of IoT services across different devices, networks and industries, but it also demonstrates how the testing and certification initiative is maturing at a rapid rate.”

The additional test specifications which included the conformance testing were approved at the most recent oneM2M Technical Plenary, held at the end of January. By adding the conformance testing, TTA aims to provide more comprehensive verification services that reach beyond the existing interoperability verification.

Going forward, TTA will continue to expand its certification programme to include new oneM2M releases and features developed by the oneM2M working groups.

The certification expansion comes as oneM2M confirms it will host a Hackathon at the University of Texas, in Dallas, from 9th-10th March. The tutorial will introduce the oneM2M standard as a promising solution for IoT cross-domain interoperability, as well as present the IoT vision, challenges, and efforts of standardisation bodies to design a globally agreed IoT service platform.

Participants will be asked to follow practical sessions to learn how to quickly integrate heterogeneous IoT devices and develop IoT applications based on the open source project Eclipse OM2M.
