Renesas joins LoRa Alliance to accelerate MCU developments

Renesas Electronics has announced that it has joined the LoRa Alliance, an open non-profit association that supports the standardisation and drives the widespread adoption of LoRaWAN. LoRaWAN is a wireless specification that achieves Low-Power Wide-Area (LPWA) wireless networks for the Internet of Things (IoT) as an open global standard. This membership will help Renesas accelerate its microcontroller (MCU) solution deployments using LoRaWAN technology for a wide array of IoT systems.

Cadence Perspec system Verifier accelerates IoT design
Cadence Design Systems has announced that Renesas has used the Cadence Perspec System Verifier to verify its new micro-controller unit (MCU) design for internet of things (IoT) applications. The Perspec System Verifier enabled Renesas to improve the system-level verification process, which reduced the number of engineering hours spent on test scenario generation by up to 90% when compared with its previous approach.

A first step of a security lifecycle management solution has been announced by Renesas Electronics on the Renesas Synergy Platform for customers who build devices connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT). Heightened security enabled in connected IoT devices

Renesas Electronics has announced the start of a beta programme based on its Renesas Synergy Platform that provides heightened security capabilities to OEMs who build devices connecting to the IoT. The Synergy Platform Device Lifecycle Management (DLM) solution consists of Synergy Security MCUs plus the associated Synergy Software and tools enabling OEMs to better protect their software IP from theft and cloning during manufacture, to inhibit counterfeit products, and to ensure authenticity when deploying secure remote firmware updates to end-products already in the field that use Synergy MCUs. Secure lifecycle management is the foundation to maintaining the integrity of end-products.

Renesas now supports all worldwide frequency bands
Renesas Electronics Europe has announced the certification of the second generation of its OFDM powerline (PLC) modem for the FCC frequency band. This makes the company the first supplier worldwide to achieve certifications for all frequency bands as defined by the G3-PLC Alliance specifications, including ARIB (Japan Route B), Cenelec A and FCC.
