SIMCom recently introduced the SIM908, a complete quad band GSM/GPRS module combined with GPS in a compact SMT package. The compact design of the SIM908 which integrated GPRS and GPS in a SMT package will significantly save both time and costs for customers to develop GPS enabled applications.
The assisted GPS receiver features an optimized power management function, which allows it to maintain hot start capability at minimal energy consumption, in a very short time (1 sec.), offering variable assets to be tracked seamlessly at any location and anytime with signal coverage in a wide operation temperature range.

The module has strong extension capability with rich interface: SPI, UART, RTC, SIM, dual analog audio, charge, debug and two separate antenna connectors for GSM/GPRS and GPS respectively. The SIM908 is compatible with the 3G module, SIM5320, which allows customer to design their application once for te two technologies and benefit from great development time-saving.
