The RF Solutions key fob was first designed to withstand a journey on the handlebars of a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle travelling at up to 90mph for 8 hours in the pouring rain. The concept has proved a tremendous success story as the company celebrates the delivery of its millionth radio-transmitting key fob.

Key fob designs have become progressively more complex to suit a wide and demanding variety of applications. Today’s models include up to three switches, are IP65-rated and benefit from ASK or FSK radio-transmitting range capabilities of up to 150 metres. RF Solutions produces several key fob versions running different protocols including Microchip Keeloq, Holtek and other custom protocols for specific customers.

In a matter of years RF Solutions went from a single employee to 40, while its turnover rose to £4.4 Million last year from was approximately £30,000. The company’s factory space jumped from a bedroom-sized room to about 10,000 square feet.

RF Solutions product range has now expanded way beyond transmitter key fobs and includes low power ceramic hybrid RF Modules, Zigbee and Bluetooth Modules, and modem-in-a-chip modules. The company offers a standard range of products and a full bespoke design service.
