Satel has announced its Satellar XT5 radio router, offering enhanced security due to encrypted data transmission in the private radio network. The radio router, with transmitting power of 5W, offers a good alternative to the use of cellular and fibre optics networks. With the “extended version” of the TCP/IP radio router Satellar, Satel now presents the long-awaited update of the legendary Satellar 2DS.

Featuring an even more compact design, the XT5 enables transmitting power of 5W and data transfer rates “over the air” of up to 230kb/s. As a transmission medium for TCP/IP information the UHF radio band (320 - 520MHz) of the Satellar XT5, with a range of 20km and more, is an excellent alternative to the use of cellular and fibre optics networks.

A private radio data transmission network that uses AES 128 encryption is immune to attacks from the Internet. Security, availability and quality of data transmission are not in the hands of unknown third parties, but instead fully conform to the requirements and specifications of the actual user. This makes it possible to set up reliable long-distance communication networks for important infrastructure facilities and to operate them over a period of decades – also in regions with otherwise sparse coverage.

The Satellar XT5 is also the first choice when used as a secondary system. As a reliable, autonomous and secure backup solution the radio router can run as a hot standby featuring uninterrupted handover, with functions such as redundant routing and VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). If cellular connections break down due to overload, server problems, power outages lasting for days or destruction of fibre optics cables, a private radio data network provides a reliable, high-performance backup solution at any time and under any circumstances.

In Germany, radio data transmission solutions from Satel are distributed exclusively by the full-range and systems provider Welotec.
