Compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) 1.1 Qi specification, Integrated Device Technology's magnetic induction transmitter and receiver solutions have been selected by 4MOD Technology for its innovative 'Cube' remote control. IDT’s wireless power chips are enabling wireless charging in the remote, which allows users to control all functions of their entertainment centre, such as TV, video, music and radio, with a few simple gestures.

The Cube deploys the IDT P9038 single-chip WPC 1.1 5V wireless power transmitter in the base unit and the IDT P9025B single-chip ultra-compact wireless power receiver in the remote control.

Arman Naghavi, Vice President and General Manager, Analog and Power Division, IDT, comments: “The global wireless charging market has been forecast to reach $13.78bn by 2020 as the technology moves from its infancy to becoming a standard feature in a broad array of electronic devices. IDT’s award-winning wireless charging semiconductors have already been designed into a wide range of applications from smart phones to wearables to furniture, and now, a futuristic remote control. Our continuing work with innovative companies will bring this budding capability into many new applications.”

4MOD will demonstrate the Cube at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015, in Las Vegas from 6th to 9th January. IDT will showcase its award-winning wireless power products during meetings at the conference

Laurent Stephan, CEO and founder, 4MOD Technology, adds: “Wireless charging is an important part of the Cube user experience, and we wanted to make sure we got it right. IDT’s success in developing wireless power products for a broad range of applications made choosing a vendor an easy decision.”
