Denon Electronics has selected the Broadcom high-end audio platform to power a line of HEOS Google Cast Ready multi-room wireless speakers. Google Cast allows users to cast their favourite music apps via any Android or iOS mobile device and their home WiFi network. This announcement coincides with Google's introduction of Google Cast for audio.

Broadcom’s development platform, which combines its StrataGX processor and WiFi/Bluetooth combo chip, has allowed Denon to simplify the implementation of the HEOS products and add new functionality.

"Our collaboration with Broadcom allowed Denon to integrate new technologies to extend the capabilities of the HEOS wireless home audio system to support Google Cast," said Peter Celinski, Chief Technology Officer, D&M Holdings. "By leveraging Broadcom’s expertise in network processing and connectivity alongside Denon's expertise in audio, software and apps, we're providing consumers with the leading multi-room audio experience, capable of streaming music from any Android or iOS device."

"Based on the success of Chromecast, we're excited to expand the Google Cast ecosystem by working with leading manufacturers such as Denon and semiconductor companies such as Broadcom to include audio devices," commented Suveer Kothari, Director of Business Development, Google Cast.

"By combining a rich set of multimedia and audio capabilities at very low power, our StrataGX processors are enabling the deployment of a broad spectrum of WiFi devices, creating connected home environments that are more capable and customised than ever before," said Dan Harding, Senior Director, Compute and Connectivity, Broadcom. "Established consumer brands such as Denon depend on our expertise to deliver the home entertainment experience consumers crave."

Broadcom’s high-end audio development platform, which complements the company's recently released WICED dual-band audio chip, is available now.
