What is stopping you from becoming at one with nature? Why do we persist in putting on shoes on a daily basis? Cuts, slashes and broken glass are all factors, however, what if there was a product that allows you to feel as if nothing were on your feet but in actual fact you would be protected against everything?

The FYF product (Free Your Feet) from the Barefoot Company provides you with the most minimalist, high-tech footwear which is designed to protect your feet during any sport.

Every one of us is guilty of having a wardrobe or closet that is full of shoes that we don’t wear. Some of them are our cute little baby shoes, others certainly don’t fit anymore or have gone out of style, and some look so beat up and worn out we wouldn’t be seen dead in them. Some of our shoes are still waiting for that perfect occasion, and others gather in abundance as they are so specialist they are only worn for specific activities and sports.

Yet one thing they all have in common is they are disconnecting us from the ground beneath us. The FYF ensures your feet and the ground are fully connected whilst guarding against any injuries on branches, gravel or rocks.

The elastic seam keeps the FYF tight to your feet and even has a separate toe design so each one of your individual little ‘piggies’ feels special.

The product is made of 46.5% dyneema, the world’s strongest fibre – which the company claims is 15% stronger than steel. This enables the FYF to have an incredibly high cut, tear and abrasion resistance. The fibre is supple and soft, and is a microfibre technology that makes the product extremely comfortable, plus the FYF has seamless sewing to maximise wearing comfort.

Dyneema is also super light-weight, so users will feel a massive difference compared to shoes. The fibre has a high thermal conductivity; the FYF is transporting heat away from your clammy and sweaty feet and cools them down significantly as soon as you begin to sweat.

As it is hydrophobic it provides a water repellent surface and dries fast, and when wet it gains almost no weight whatsoever. Cleaning the product is fast and easy as you can apply all cleaning liquids, or just take them to your local dry cleaners.

Being UV resistant the microfibres also allow your feet and toes to bend as much as they need. Additionally the dyneema has a low coefficient of friction – the grip dots enable a strong tight grip and are placed widespread for full flexibility - so jumping into those foot straps at speed your feet will keep their grip, don’t worry.

The FYF allows you to regain a natural barefoot feeling with your favourite sport, and increase your performance with a sense of security, the only thing to have a slight eye out for in water sports, is the FYF is not puncture resistant, so for example sea urchins could penetrate through.

Dr. Dieter Hesch, Development Manager, DSM said: "After years of research and development, we brought the first Kevlar-made Swiss Protection Sock to the market. Although it was a large success, we remained determined on taking barefoot protection to even higher standards.”

Each pair of FYFs comes in a water resistant pouch and its quick and simple to put on the product - it takes less time than tying your shoes.
