Imagine reproducing the contents of your smartphone via Bluetooth directly onto the lens of your glasses. You don’t have to imagine this anymore, as Italian company GlassUp has made this reality. Fashion and technology can work really well together and through mixing the two the company produced the consumer product UNO smart glasses.

They contain just normal clear lenses that are photochromic, which gives the wearer access to incoming emails, texts and social media alerts so you can keep up to date in the fast moving world.

The optical system visualises directly on your field of view in shades of green. The LCD display is 0,35" wide, with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and a screen size of 40" at a projection distance of 5m.

Equipped with 9 axis accelerometer, Gyro, Compass and Ambient light sensors, the smart glasses have a touch system on the right temple, which is the mastermind behind the eye wear. This allows you to control the device with simple gestures.

The UNO START app can be downloaded from Play Store or App Store, all you need to do is connect your glasses via Bluetooth, and explore.

A handy feature of the glasses is the UNO MAPS, which allows your smart glasses to guide you through the journey by showing directions and distances right in front of you, these maps are connected up to Google maps.

UNO READER is another feature that reads speeches, subtitles, and song lyrics right on your lens.

The smart glasses can also allow hearing impaired people to visualise conversations through UNO HEAR. And in combination with the UNO TRANSLATE is a feature that will provide real time translation of foreign language conversations and subsequent visualisation of the text appearing on the lens.

The glasses are unobtrusive as the messages and alerts are just shown for a few seconds, and don’t include a camera for privacy reasons.

Beyond the aesthetically pleasing exterior GlassUp aims to improve the usability of AR in everyday life. The design also simplifies the users’ experience.
