The Rohde & Schwarz R&S EFL240 and R&S EFL340 portable TV test receivers for installing and servicing receiver systems can handle cable, satellite and terrestrial television. Both are cost-effective and easy to operate and the R&S EFL340 supports DVB-T2 and MPEG-4. Two receivers that deliver all information at a glance.

The R&S®EFL240 and R&S®EFL340 are compact, portable TV test receivers for cable, satellite and terrestrial television. Installation personnel and service technicians, for example, can use them to check the signal quality of cable TV systems and in-building distribution systems. The ergonomic design makes the receivers easy to operate, which in turn makes the technicians who use them more productive. The battery operating time of over four hours is significantly longer (up to two hours more) than that of competitive TV test equipment on the market.

The new test receivers feature a wide variety of measurement functions for digital and analog TV standards and FM sound broadcasting. The R&S®EFL340 supports DVB-T2, the latest digital TV generation. Both instruments measure all essential test parameters and display the constellation diagram and the modulation error ratio (MER) versus frequency. A feature that is certain to be popular with technicians is the ability to measure echoes even outside the guard interval for analyzing reception problems in multipath propagation and single-frequency networks.

The two receivers can perform spectrum analysis in a frequency range up to 2500 MHz. The practical built-in zoom function allows service technicians to zoom in on a channel and measure it in detail while maintaining an overview of the entire TV cable spectrum.

Video and audio content are the simplest and most direct criteria for checking reception quality. To facilitate this test, both instruments are capable of decoding MPEG-2 and displaying SD and HD programs. The R&S®EFL340 also supports MPEG-4. The Common Interface integrated in both receivers even makes it possible to display encrypted services. The Combo mode is a unique feature for simultaneously displaying measurement results, spectrum and video. The user can see all important information at a glance.

In addition, the two TV test receivers have several functions that facilitate routine jobs: The Scan & Log function and the Macro Measurement function efficiently automate frequent measurement tasks. Pre-installed channel tables and transponder lists save the user valuable time when entering parameters.
