A miniature signal generator, which combines outstanding RF performance, digital connectivity and operational versatility in a 21x72x100mm package, has been introduced by AtlanTecRF. The ASG generator features a wide frequency range of 25-6000MHz, which is tuneable in 1KHz steps. Phase noise at an output frequency of 1GHz is better than -106dBc/Hz at an offset of 100KHz from the carrier, while spurious is typically lower than -70dBc and harmonics less than -25dBc.

The clean output signal combined with power levels of up to +13dBm, controllable on 0.1dB steps, make the device suitable for use in test and measurement, comms, covert interception and countermeasure applications. The digital interface provides a number of control options, including USB, RS232 and Ethernet .

Frequency stability is determined by an internal TCXO with ±1ppm maximum variation over the -20 to +50°C operating temperature range. The ASG generator can also be connected to an external reference of between 10 and 50MHz, where system stability tracking is required.
