RFaxis has announced that it has started sampling their pure CMOS RF Front-end Integrated Circuit (RFeIC™) product designed to enable robust wireless connectivity for next-generation 802.11a/n/p wireless connectivity applications in the 5GHz frequency band, including ultra-mobile devices, high definition multimedia streaming devices, routers/access points, and wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE).
We've made tremendous progress migrating our connectivity products to pure CMOS since we announced samples of our first pure CMOS products for 2.4GHz wireless applications less than a year ago, stated Mike Neshat, chairman and CEO of RFaxis. The RFX5000 is a crucial strategic milestone not just for RFaxis but also for the entire WLAN ecosystem as key players are facing challenges in meeting market demands. Once again, we prove wrong those who claimed it is impossible to design and deliver a complete, fully integrated, plug and play, single-chip/single-die RFeIC using CMOS silicon, and we will continue to defy conventional wisdom.

The RFX5000 RFeIC™ is a single-chip/single-die, complete, fully integrated RF Front-end on pure CMOS silicon, and covers the full 802.11a/n/p frequency band (4.90 to 5.95 GHz). The RFX5000 comes complete with a power amplifier, low noise amplifier, switching, on-chip harmonic filters, power detection, matching circuitry, CMOS compatible control logic and high level ESD protection on all package pins. The RFX5000 is available in a standard 3x3x0.5mm QFN package and will be in full production at the end of Q4, 2011.
