RF frequency dividers offer broadband coverage from 0.5-18GHz

Provider of RF, microwave and millimetre wave products, Pasternack has announced a new line of high-rel frequency dividers that cover wide frequency bandwidths from 0.5-18GHz and are available in 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10 divide-by-prescaler configurations.

These modules are ideal for use in common phase locked loop and frequency synthesiser circuit designs that may involve applications for aerospace and defense, satellite communications, VSAT, test and measurement equipment and point-to-point radios.

Utilising advanced GaAs HBT MMIC semiconductor technology, the new frequency dividers from Pasternack, produces low additive single sideband (SSB) phase noise performance with typical levels down to -155dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset.

Input power ranges from -20 to +10dBm with output power ranging from -1 to -4dBm depending on the model. Additional performance includes a fast output transition time of 100 picoseconds, high reverse leakage levels up to 85dB, single +5VDC power supply, and an operating temperature range of -55 to +85°C.

All models are EAR99. These frequency dividers are designed into compact miniature packages that support field replaceable SMA connectors and mounting fixtures that can be removed for convenient PCB “drop-in” applications. The rugged Kovar package designs are gold-over-nickel plated and hermetically sealed and guaranteed to meet MIL-STD-883 environmental test conditions for temperature cycle and fine & gross leak testing.

Tim Galla, Active Components Product Manager at Pasternack explained: “Pasternack’s new lines of frequency divider modules with field replaceable SMA connectors are available in hermetically sealed packages that cover wide bandwidths from 0.5 to 18GHz and support a broad selection of divide-by-prescaler configurations that are ideal for phase locked loop applications. These versatile high-rel designs are available in-stock for immediate shipment.”
