Automotive-grade wireless charging solution
The development of an automotive wireless charging solution with integrated NFC communication has been announced by ROHM. This solution combines ROHM’s automotive-grade (AEC-Q100 qualified) wireless power transmission control IC (BD57121MUF-M) with STMicroelectronics' NFC Reader IC (ST25R3914) and eight-bit microcontroller (STM8A series).

NFC Reader IC adopted for automotive wireless charging design
STMicroelectronics has announced that its automotive NFC Reader IC (ST25R3914) and its automotive 8-bit microcontroller (STM8AF) have been chosen for the Qi-compliant automotive wireless charging reference design from Rohm. Contactless communication based on NFC is already in extensive use for functions such as mobile payment by smartphone and in recent years, NFC use has been rapidly widening from mobile devices to industrial equipment, IoT devices, and even automotive systems.

ST25DV-PWM NFC Dynamic tags from STMicroelectronics introduce an innovative contactless way to program presets for products on the production line or in-situ, and simplify setup or fine-tuning at the point of use. The Dynamic tag ICs target all applications featuring PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)-based controllers, such as lighting products, motorized appliances, fans, and thermostats, using an ISO15693 RFID reader or NFC-enabled smartphone or other mobile device.

STMicroelectronics revealed its highly integrated mobile-security solution, the ST54J, a system-on-chip (SoC) containing an NFC (Near-Field Communication) controller, Secure Element, and eSIM. The SoC delivers performance-boosting integration for mobile and IoT devices, with the added benefit of ST’s software-partner ecosystem for smoother user experiences in mobile payments and e-ticketing transactions, as well as more convenient, remote, mobile provisioning to support multiple operator subscriptions.
