Accelerating the development of IoT applications, Solid State Supplies now offers the mangOH Green product from Sierra Wireless. Backed by the support of the knowledgeable and experienced technical team at Solid State Supplies’ disposal, this highly intuitive open hardware platform facilitates cellular-enabled IoT designs, allowing rapid progress from concept and prototyping phases through to full scale production.

Suited for developing solutions to be deployed in remote locations, for industrial, environmental and agricultural monitoring purposes, as well as various other forms of data logging and M2M communication, the mangOH Green platform incorporates the Sierra Wireless AirPrime WP8548 cellular modem for reliable wireless connectivity. The modem’s processing capabilities, which are powered by an ARM Cortex A5 application processor, deliver a combination of elevated performance and low power operation. Each platform has three expansion slots that enable the attachment of further wireless and wireline connectivity options, including WiFi, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), Thread and Ethernet cards. The mangOH platform provides a complete IoT gateway that can be scaled to fit the exact requirements of any given application.

A selection of sensors, such as an accelerometer and a gyroscope, are included. Through its built-in libraries it can also make use of Arduino shields (containing any extra sensor devices that may be required), connecting them directly to the cloud with the addition of the relevant AirVantage library. This maximises the platform’s flexibility and gives huge scope over which highly effective systems can be designed. Pre-integrated with Sierra Wireless AirVantage connectivity management technology, mangOH Green enables straightforward and secure cloud integration. The Legato Linux embedded development environment further shortens development times.

“mangOH Green presents engineers looking to implement IoT applications with a comprehensive out-of-the-box solution, encompassing all the hardware and software they need to get a real head start in the development process,” stated Gordon Serpis, Franchise Manager at Solid State Supplies. “The robust connectivity APIs provide access to the cloud and cover an array of different network services, including voice calls, SMS, data and radio controls. With its low power capabilities, ease of use and inherent versatility, plus an open license approach permitting modification and commercialisation of the core design, mangOH Green is certain to prove to be very popular as IoT roll outs continue.”
