The availability of LoRa multi-band picocell reference design for a variety of indoor applications has been announced by Semtech Corporation. Consumer and enterprise equipment manufacturers are currently testing the LoRa picocell reference design, using Semtech’s SX1308 picocell gateway IC coupled with a SX1255 or SX1257 LoRa RF transceiver, and are expected to help bring low cost LoRaWAN networks to market for consumers and private enterprises.

Two new compatible evaluation modules (EVMs) are being shipped by Semtech Corporation for prototyping and developing wireless charging solutions for wearable applications. The Semtech TSWITX-G4-EVM is an evaluation platform for the test and experimentation of a wireless charging transmitter based on the Semtech TS80002 Wireless Power Transmitter Controller and TS51231 Driver.

LoRa Technology incorporated into IoT network in the UK

Semtech announced its LoRa Wireless RF Technology is used in a LPWAN in London deployed as part of Digital Catapult’s Things Connected Program. The program aims to foster innovation by providing SMEs with free access to a LoRaWAN-based LPWAN for the purpose of deploying and testing IoT applications. The initial network consists of 50 Everynet base stations featuring LoRa technology, which would make it the largest LoRaWAN network in the UK.

IoT comes to Rome as Unidata deploys LoRa

Semtech Corporation has announced UNIDATA S.p.A, has adopted the LoRaWAN technology platform to deploy a low power, wide area network (LPWAN) in Italy. Unidata will also create a showroom, the “LoRa Lab,” near Unidata’s headquarters in Rome to educate and encourage IoT solutions and services based on Semtech’s LoRa technology.
