Collaboration on edge computing for the Industrial IoT
NXP Semiconductors and Kontron, part of technology group S&T have announced their collaboration to couple NXP's i.MX and Layerscape families of Arm-based processors with Kontron/S&T's expertise in hardware and software to create Industry 4.0 solutions. The products will leverage Microsoft Azure IoT and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) technologies to meet the needs of next-generation Industrial IoT implementations for cloud, edge computing and factory floor innovations.

Industrial computer platform for IoT gateway applications
Kontron at embedded world 2018 has announced the KBox A-250. The newest addition to Kontron's compact industrial computer platforms is tailored for gateway applications. Based on a pITX-2.5" SBC with Intel Atom processors of the E3900 family, the fanless KBox A-250 has been designed as a cost-optimised gateway for IoT Edge applications. Its fields of application are primarily found in industrial automation.
