Office of Naval Research invests in cyber security research
Developer of commercial embedded software assurance tools and advanced cyber security solutions, GrammaTech, has announced that it has been awarded a $9m, three-year contract from the Office of Naval Research, a division of the United States Department of the Navy, to perform research and development into techniques for protecting software from cyber attacks. The goal of GrammaTech’s contribution to the overall Navy programme is to advance the field of transforming existing software applications so that they are tailored for specific new situations.

What are the cyber security concerns in Industry 4.0?
Developer of commercial embedded software assurance tools and advanced cyber security solutions, GrammaTech, has released new research from VDC detailing the growing concerns in cyber physical manufacturing systems within today’s smart factories. The report Industry 4.0: Secure by Design summarises the results from surveying over 500 engineers to find that for Industry 4.0 to succeed, smart factories must be made secure by design, meaning security concerns should guide decisions from the earliest stages and through the full system development lifecycle.

Using static analysis to improve IIoT device security

The Industrial Internet of Things is unique in that devices that compose industrial control systems are often insecure due to limitations in their design and capability. On top of that, the protocols used to communicate are not secure, with a dangerous reliance on physical security (.e.g. keeping devices on a local network).
