IDT announced that LG has integrated an IDT wireless power receiver into its flagship G4 model. LG’s G4 has IDT’s P9025A chip built into the motherboard, delivering compact size and a simplified application circuit. LG chose IDT as the sole-source vendor for the wireless charging capabilities in its latest state-of-the-art portable device. LG previously chose an IDT chip to deliver wireless charging in the previous-gen G3 smartphone.

The P9025A is a fully integrated, single-chip wireless power receiver that can support PMA, Qi or dual-mode charging. It utilises a high-efficiency LDO regulator based architecture to minimise component count. In addition, its optimised control logic minimises power losses to ensure efficient power delivery to the load. The space and cost-optimised wireless power receivers are ideal for wireless handsets, cell phone sleeves and tablets.

“The wireless power ecosystem is growing at breakneck speed as wireless charging gets closer to becoming a standard rather than a premium feature,” said Arman Naghavi, Vice President, Analog Power Technology, IDT. “At IDT, we have been working closely with leading innovators to deliver on the promise of wireless charging, integrating our chips into smartphones, wearables, even furniture, to make our portable devices easier to charge and more convenient to use.”
