International provider of testing, inspection, and certification services, TÜV Rheinland, has issued the first CE RED certificate for a Huawei 5G mobile phone. Li Xiaolong, Huawei's Vice President of Mobile Phones, Stefan Kischka, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Wireless/IoT, attended the certification ceremony on behalf of their respective companies.

Stefan Kischka congratulated Huawei during the certification ceremony: “TÜV Rheinland is pleased to serve as a witness to the world-leading 5G expertise of Huawei. This is great news for both the industry and consumers. TÜV Rheinland has much experience in the wireless communications technology field. We hope to continue working closely with Huawei in launching, promoting, and witnessing the new era of 5G.”

During his speech, Li Xiaolong said: “5G technology and products are more complex than the previous generation of communication technologies. Certification was therefore even more challenging. I thank the technical teams from both companies for working and achieving important breakthroughs in the certification of many key technologies. In the future, Huawei will continue to work with TÜV Rheinland on the development of certification technologies for communication products and to promote the large-scale commercialization of 5G devices.”

The CE mark is mandatory for entering the European market. The Huawei Mate X passed CE certification covering requirements in terms of radio frequency (RF), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), safety (Safety & SAR), RoHs, and environmental protection.
