NXP releases pre-certified ZigBee 3.0 wireless MCUs

NXP Semiconductors has expanded its best-in-class, low power and long range JN5169 wireless modules. The three wireless modules: JN5169_M00, JN5169_M05 and JN5169_M06, are pre-certified FCC/CE/IC and can be loaded with the latest NXP ZigBee 3.0 stack. The wireless modules with ZigBee 3.0 helps enable customers to rapidly introduce wireless products into the mass market faster.

ZigBee 3.0 SDK accelerates deployment of smart home gateways
Incorporating the GP712 radio communication controller chip from GreenPeak Technologies (now the Low Power Wireless business unit of Qorvo), a ZigBee 3.0 SDK for Smart Home gateways has been introduced by Qorvo. The SDK allows application developers to programme a GP712-equipped gateway to communicate seamlessly with various sensors, controllers and systems within today’s smart homes.

'Industry’s first' ZigBee 3.0 software SDK released

NXP Semiconductor has released the industry's first software SDK for ZigBee 3.0. The NXP ZigBee 3.0 software is available for JN5169, JN5168 and JN5164 MCUs. With the ZigBee 3.0 SDK, home automation developers and operators can further explore product development for Smart Home, Smart Appliances in domestic and commercial environments including lighting, HVAC and security devices.

Chipset simultaneously supports ZigBee & Thread
GreenPeak Technologies has announced what it claims to be the industry’s first single radio multi-protocol chipset with multi-channel receive capability for STBs, gateways and other advanced IoT devices. The GP712 will enable devices to support multiple protocols in normal operation, or to create a single SKU (stock keeping unit) that determines the type of protocol used in the consumer’s home at the time of installation instead of as a factory selection.

Partnership targets growing Chinese smart home market

NXP has announced a partnership with Xiaomi, which will see NXP provide its JN516x ZigBee low-power wireless solution to power the connectivity of the Xiaomi Smart Home Suite. The suite consists of a motion sensor, door and window sensors, a wireless switching device for controlling appliances and a multifunctional gateway that wirelessly links all the components together using ZigBee WiFi interconnectivity.
