u-blox has announced a firmware upgrade for its NEO-M8P high precision GNSS modules. The small, highly cost effective and very precise Real Time Kinematics (RTK) modules now support BeiDou. Complementing u-blox's existing support for GPS+GLONASS satellite navigation systems, this release introduces 8Hz RTK update rates for GPS, making the NEO-M8P suitable for applications with high user dynamics.

Integrated RTK algorithms bring centimetre-level positioning accuracy within the reach of a wide range of applications, including unmanned vehicles and robotic guidance systems like tractors and robotic lawnmowers. The addition of GPS and BeiDou RTK support is particularly relevant for end products targeted towards the Asia-Pacific market.

Engineering samples can be ordered online. Customers that already have samples of NEO-M8P or the application board C94-M8P can access the new features by downloading the new firmware here. A final set of feature updates will be available in the third quarter of 2016 with mass production starting in Q4.
