Enabling Quanta Computer to deliver high performance small cell solutions to the world's major network operators and service providers, Broadcom's integrated dual mode small cell SoCs have been selected to power the company's next generation Qcell LTE small cell solutions for enterprise and residential deployments.

Operators are expected to offload a large portion of data traffic over indoor and outdoor small cells to add needed bandwidth and coverage for subscribers, while maximising spectrum efficiency. Broadcom's BCM617xx dual mode small cell SoCs deliver the highest levels of integration, allowing ODMs such as Quanta to reduce their overall bill of materials and dramatically reduce power consumption.

PoE+ 25.5W compliant, the Quanta Qcell LTE small cell solution features 2x2 MIMO and supports bandwidth up to 20MHz and 3G, TD or FDD LTE bands.

Key features of Broadcom's BCM617xx dual mode small cell SoCs include: concurrent support for 4G LTE 20MHz channel with full 150Mb/s down link and 50Mb/s uplink; addressing enterprise and residential segment; support for LTE in both Frequency Division Duplexing or Time Division Duplexing modes; support for 3G in WCDMA and TDS-CDMA modes; embedded Advanced Self-Organising Network technology; and reduces operator costs to upgrade site performance and enhance overall mobile network capacity.

Greg Fischer, Vice President and General Manager, Broadband Carrier Access, Broadcom, comments: "Broadcom's dual-mode small cell SoCs allow carriers to optimise spectrum efficiency for an overall increase in network capacity and a smooth migration path from  3G to 4G/LTE. Leading ODMs such as Quanta can quickly build and deploy innovative small cell solutions to meet operator demand for increased bandwidth and network performance."

"Quanta has adopted Broadcom's state-of-the-art SoC solutions to enable our industry leading products for quite some time. By integrating Broadcom's leading edge, highly integrated SoC solutions in our LTE small cell product line, we are providing our customers with the performance and quality they have come to expect in a single, integrated solution," commented Frank Jiang, Vice President, Quanta Computer.

Broadcom's BCM617xx series for metropolitan, enterprise and residential TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE multi-mode small cell networks are currently in production. Quanta's Qcell LTE small cell solution will be available to mobile operators in the second half of 2014.
