Marvell announce the Marvell Avastar 88W8864, a wireless local area network system-on-chip and the industry’s first 802.11ac 4x4 solution built to improve the throughput of enterprise and retail access points and the robustness of wireless video distribution. The widespread adoption of Wi-Fi enabled devices requires faster, more efficient and reliable wireless that enables quick and seamless connectivity. Compared to its predecessor 802.11n, 802.11ac offers up to a three times increase in Wi-Fi throughput and more than two times the power efficiency when processing high-speed loads.

Toshiba has announced a free positioning wireless charging chipset consisting of a high-efficiency power transmitter and receiver for charging smartphones and other mobile products anywhere on the battery charging pad. The Toshiba chipset is fully compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium Qi interface specification, A4, A8, A12 and A14. It includes the TB6865FG power transmitter and TB6860WBG receiver and features a two-coil control architecture for cost-effective battery charging.

TI expands development of wireless power technologies

Texas Instruments today announced it has joined the Alliance for Wireless Power. TI will continue to develop new bqTESLA wireless power receiver and transmitter integrated circuits that comply with existing and future versions of the Wireless Power Consortium Qi standard, and also create products that support the A4WP magnetic resonance specification.

Toshiba has created and is distributing an application that simplifies and enhances wireless data transfers between smartphones and FlashAir, the SDHC memory card with embedded wireless LAN functionality. The app, FlashAir, is currently available free of charge for Android devices through Google Play and an iOS version is scheduled for launch in spring next year.
