Broadcom has announced that SK Telecom, Korea's largest telecommunications company, has selected Broadcom's latest small cell SoC devices with carrier aggregation technology to enhance its high-speed 4G LTE services. By leveraging Broadcom's advanced small cell SoC features, SK Telecom can significantly increase overall throughput and extend network coverage and capacity.

InterDigital, imec and Peraso Technologies have jointly announced the integration of their respective technologies into the world’s first WiGig-based mm-wave mesh backhaul system. The technology will enable easier deployments for small cell mobile backhaul, resulting in lower cost solutions for high-speed data delivery in 4G and 5G networks.

GNSS solution addresses challenge of indoor synchronisation

The Integrated GNSS Master (IGM) solution, required for small cell synchronisation, has been introduced by Microsemi. The IGM is the company’s first solution that fully integrates a 1588v2 PTP grandmaster with a GNSS receiver and antenna in a small, fully contained package, designed to mount indoors. The Microsemi IGM solves the often documented challenge of indoor synchronisation which has been a very significant hurdle for cost-effective small cell indoor deployments.
