Wireless headphones were an up and coming trend; now ear-free headphones are available. BATBAND is a piece of sound technology allowing users to privately listen to music or chosen sound as well as being able to hear the world around them. The ear-free heaphones work via bone conduction, consisting of transducers that emit sound waves perceived by the 'private' inner ear, freeing the 'social' outer ear.

Sound waves are transmitted at a frequency that can be conducted through the bones of the skull. BATBAND allows ears to remain free so users hear twice as much, without compromising on comfort, quality or style. There are three transducers emitting sound waves in the product, two touching the sides of the head and one at the back of the head on the occipital bone. No sound can be heard to outsiders.

BATBAND pairs with a mobile device through Bluetooth, allowing users to take calls, listen to music or watch films. It also features an incorporated microphone so it can be used for hands free calls.

Touch sensors allow intutive gestures to simplify control of its features. The ear-free headphones use rechargeable Li-ion batteries with 6 hours of playback time.
