Agilent Technologies Announces Voice-over-LTE Test System Developed with Brüel & Kjær

Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced that the Agilent PXT wireless communications test set is now available for testing voice quality on Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) 4G phones with the Brüel & Kjær PULSE Audio Analyzer and Head and Torso Simulator (HATS). Transporting voice over a packet-based LTE cellular infrastructure poses challenges that make voice-quality testing essential.
The Agilent and Brüel & Kjær solution combines standards-based test methods with real-world base station emulation, RF test and functional test to ensure that VoLTE phones will meet user’s expectations.

“The performance of our measurement systems relies heavily on the capability of the test equipment we support, so we are pleased to announce that, in working closely with Agilent, we now offer this complete VoLTE audio quality test solution to our customers,” said Lars B. Nielsen, market manager for Telecom & Audio within Brüel & Kjær. “Our PULSE Audio Analyzer and HATS system offer an industry-leading platform for audio quality measurements.”

“We are delighted that Brüel & Kjær chose to integrate the Agilent PXT wireless communications test set with their PULSE Audio Analyzer and HATS system,” said Andy Botka, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Microwave and Communications Division. “The Agilent and Brüel & Kjær solution will enable operators and LTE smartphone developers to make breakthrough VoLTE audio quality measurements.”

The Brüel & Kjær PULSE Audio Analyzer and HATS system support testing based on commonly used international standards such as ITU-T P.862 PESQ, 3GPP2 and 3GPP audio test specifications.
