Satcom test tool leader GateHouse Telecom says that Inmarsat has performed testing of its new Global Xpress Link Emulator (GLE) clearing the way for Inmarsat to recommend the tool to its partners for part of their testing of Global Xpress (GX) applications and solutions off-air without a terminal.

Test suite enables simulation of location based services in UMTS networks
The LoCation Services (LCS) Test Suite to support simulation of location services in UMTS networks has been unveiled by GL Communications. The LCS architecture in UTRAN follows a client/server model with the positioning functionality distributed across UMTS nodes such as, Radio Network Controller (RNC), Stand Alone Serving Mobile Location Centre (SMLC), Mobile Serving Centre (MSC), Home Location Register (HLR), and Gateway Mobile Location Centre (GMLC).

Automated test and alignment capabilities for Harris P25 Radios, including the popular XL-200P, are available using the Cobham 8800SX Digital Radio Test Set. The XL-200P is a multiband portable radio that supports P25 communications on VHF, UHF, and 700/800 MHz spectrum.

An Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled condition monitoring device has been developed by a wireless sensor company to help engineers more effectively observe changes in machinery. The sensor, named BluVib, which was developed by Sensor-Works with assistance from CENSIS, the Scottish Innovation Centre for Sensor and Imaging Systems, can be fixed to rotating equipment to record vibration and temperature data wirelessly via the IoT.

A new family of miniature horn antennas that are designed to be used for millimetre-wave testing in 5G developments and EMC compliance has been released by Link Microtek. Ideal for test houses or manufacturers of E-band radio communications equipment, the AMHA-V1 series of horns can be utilised as either transmitters or receivers for measurements of products’ electromagnetic susceptibility or emissions in accordance with international EMC standards laid down by organisations such as IEC, ISO and CISPR.

The R&S CMW500 from Rohde & Schwarz offers both NB-IoT and eMTC protocol conformance tests. Manufacturers and test houses can now use a single instrument to verify that chipsets, modules and devices are standard-compliant. Enhanced machine type communications (eMTC) und narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) are part of LTE Release 13. Together, they are known as cellular IoT (C-IoT).

AtlanTecRF launched its SNG series of Satellite Simulator Systems, designed to provide a loop-back test for vehicle mounted Ku band satellite news gathering (SNG) antennas without the need to access the satellite. Comprised of two units, the satellite simulator is either depot based or portable thereby facilitating the testing and calibration of news gathering and outside broadcast systems off-satellite.

The release of GL Communications' enhanced End-to-End Wireless Network LAB Solutions (2G, 3G, 4G and IMS) has been announced.
