At an event taking place at Leeds Beckett University on 6th July, the hot topic of cyber security is to be explored. Speakers will include Dr Z. Cliffe Schreuders, Director of the Cybercrime and Security Innovation (CSI) Centre at Leeds Beckett, Dan Taylor, Head of Cyber Security at NHS Digital, and Stuart Hyde QPM, Regional Ambassador for Cyber Security Information Sharing Partnership (CISP). The Cyber Security Networking event will take place at Broadcasting Place on Thursday 6th July from 8.30-11am.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to discuss where recent technological advances are taking us, while browsing a showcase of cyber security technology projects exhibited by representatives from Leeds Beckett University.

The event will be officially opened by Professor Colin Pattinson, Dean of the School of Computing, Creative Technologies and Engineering at Leeds Beckett.

Speaking about the event, Professor Pattinson said: “Cyber-enabled crime is rapidly emerging and ever-evolving. Along with the opportunities that the digital age has brought us are vulnerabilities which cyber security aims to address.

“This event will explore the benefits of greater ‘cyber resilience’, expanding on the challenges of defending legacy systems and the strategies smaller companies can adopt to protect themselves.”

The Cyber crime and Security Innovation Centre (CSI Centre) was launched last year. It aims to improve and incorporate an evidence-based approach into the frontline policing of digital forensics and cyber crime investigations, and to advance human factors of computer security and forensics mechanisms and practice.

The centre acts as a collaborative hub for high quality research, with a collegial, supportive and cooperative research-intensive group, aimed at high-impact outputs.
