Farsens announce the introduction of a new battery-free RFID tag which features a humidity sensor. Compatible with commercial EPC C1G2 compliant UHF RFID readers, the HYDRO operates over a temperature range from -30°C to +85°C and features a read range of up to 1.5 metres.

The HYDRO battery-free RFID tags can be used in parallel in a short area, where the reader receives specific ID numbers with the associated humidity level data. Built in a PCB format means that it is available in different sizes. The HYDRO tag also features a 96 bits EPC number, a 32 bit TID and a password protected Kill command.

HYDRO tags can be embedded in different materials and read wirelessly from the outside for an effective moisture level monitoring. It allows for moisture level monitoring in soil or other materials in intervals from extremely dry to extremely wet. It can also be encapsulated in an IP67 or IP68 casing for usage in harsh environments.

Target applications for the HYDRO battery-free RFID tags include irrigation automation (activating irrigation just in the areas that require such activity) or detection of liquids in areas/items that should be completely dry.
