Introduced by Farsens, the PHOTON is a UHF RF field detector passive tag which uses an LED driven by energy harvested from an RF field to indicate strength and orientation of an RF field. It is equipped with an LED which will illuminate brighter when the RF field is stronger in a specific point and orientation. It is suitable for detection at ranges up to 3m.

The battery free PHOTON tag is designed to assess the status of ageing RFID implementations, since RFID reader and reader antennas deployed several years ago may not perform correctly. The tags help users determine how well the system is performing and identify which devices in the system are not properly functioning.

Built in a PCB format, the Photon is available in a variety of antenna design and sizes, depending on the specific application, and it can be encapsulated in an IP67 or IP68 casing for harsh environments.
