Pasternack announces the release of its 5, 8 and 10-bit broadband PIN diode digital step attenuators with performance of up to 40GHz, configuration dependant. These programmable, variable step attenuators are commonly used in electronic warfare, military & space communication systems, radar and test & measurement applications.

Pasternack’s digital step attenuators are available in 30 and 60dB values and have attenuation step resolution of 0.25 to 1dB, depending on the model. These programmable RF attenuators offer excellent attenuation accuracy and flatness over a broad frequency range of 0.3-40GHz. Insertion loss ranges from 4 to 8dB and power from 10 to 20dBm, depending on the chosen unit. The variable attenuators meet MIL-STD-202F standards for shock, vibration, altitude, humidity and temperature, constructed using a durable, but slim line housing which is just 0.5” thick.

The high precision PIN diode digital attenuators offer fast and reliable switch speeds and high linearity. The lower frequency 0.03-18GHz digital step RF attenuators are equipped with female SMA connectors, while the high frequency units use female 2.4mm connectors. The power control connector for each unit is a 15 PIN Micro-D-Female connector.

“Our latest PIN diode digital step attenuators provide customers an off-the-shelf solution previously not available for these types of high reliability products where long lead times can exceed 8-12 weeks,” explained Michael Rachlin, Director of Product Management, Pasternack. “We are continually expanding our active RF component offering to provide our customers a true one-stop-shop for all their RF requirements.”

The digitally programmable step attenuators are in-stock and available to ship from Pasternack.
