Operating from 3200 to 4000MHz, an RF device that greatly reduces power consumption, solution cost and board area for developers of TDD cellular base stations has been unveiled by Integrated Device Technology. The F1358 integrated digital pre-distortion demodulator delivers the industry’s highest levels of linearity and integration to enhance the performance of the digital pre-distortion transmitter linearisation path of cellular base stations.

Integrating a digital step attenuator and single-pole-double-throw switch, the DPD demodulator features IDT’s patented Zero-Distortion and Glitch-Free technologies. It joins the company's growing RF portfolio which includes the F1370 and F1320 predecessors.

The F1358 demodulator improves transmitter adjacent channel leakage ratio performance while reducing costs by eliminating the need for external IF amplifiers, baluns, switches and DSAs. It reduces power consumption by over 1W compared to conventional solutions and delivers high reliability with an intercept point of 42dBm up to 105°C operating temperature.

Chris Stephens, General Manager, RF division, IDT, commented: “Like its F1370 and F1320 predecessors for lower frequency bands, the F1358 digital pre-distortion demodulator delivers the gold standard in performance with a high integration level, reducing cost, area and power consumption for TDD RF developers. It is an ideal, flexible solution for linearising base transceiver station transmitters for 3 to 4GHz TDD systems."

The F1358 digital pre-distortion demodulator is available now in a 6x6mm 36-VFQFPN package.
