4G LTE RF portfolio targets Chinese mid-tier smartphones

Qorvo has introduced RF Flex, the latest addition to its family of integrated 4G LTE RF front end solutions. Qorvo's RF Flex front end solutions offer performance and regional customisation to improve the performance and simplify the design of 4G smartphones and tablets. The first products in the RF Flex family include multi-band PA modules and transmit modules designed for the growing mid-tier segment of LTE smartphones, particularly in China.

The PA modules and transmit modules can be paired with the Company's portfolio of SAW, TC-SAW, and BAW filters, to enable customers to flexibly scale and optimise solutions for China's domestic and regional operator requirements. RF Flex has been selected for multiple leading 4G reference designs, with volume production commencing in the June 2015 quarter.

Qorvo's RF Flex family of solutions supports high-, mid-, and low-band configurations and is comprised of the RF521x family of transmit modules and the RF541x family of multi-band PA modules. The solutions are average power tracking compliant and feature a Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) RFFE control interface.

The company's RF5210 and RF5216 transmit modules integrate high performance power amplifier functionality with a single pole, ten- or sixteen-throw (SP10T, SP16T) antenna switch. The transmit modules leverage Qorvo's advanced silicon switch technology and low loss performance to extend battery life and enable cooler operation.

RF541x multi-band power amplifiers deliver complete LTE band coverage from 700MHz to 2.7GHz and coverage of up to five cellular modes, in a single PA module. The multi-band PA modules combine industry-leading performance with varying combinations of band and mode coverage on matching board designs to enable broad footprint compatibility and multiple customisation options.
