The event, held at the company’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, included a demonstration of what is supposedly the world’s first Microwave-Assisted Magnetic Recording (MAMR) HDD and presentations from company executives and the inventor of MAMR technology, Professor Jimmy Zhu, from Carnegie Mellon University.

Enhanced gallium nitride technology increases user flexibility
An optimised version of WIN Semiconductors Corp’s 0.25µm gallium nitride technology, NP25, provides increased DC and RF transistor performance. NP25 is a 0.25µm gate GaN-on-SiC process, and offers users the flexibility to produce both fully integrated amplifier products as well as custom discrete transistors. In production since 2014, the optimised 0.25µm process offers increased RF performance with fast switching time, higher gain and increased power added efficiency for demanding power applications through Ku-band.

Based on 16nm UltraScale+ MPSoC architecture, the all programmable RFSoCs monolithically integrate RF data converters for up to 50-75% system power and footprint reduction, and soft-decision Forward Error Correction (SD-FEC) cores to meet 5G and DOCSIS 3.1 standards.

Microsemi Corporation has announced its cost-optimised, low power, mid-range PolarFire field programmable gate array (FPGA) is now interoperable with Analog Devices’ AD9371 wideband integrated radio frequency (RF) transceiver via a JESD204B interface. The AD9371 offers dual channel transmitters and receivers, integrated synthesisers and digital signal processing functions, which allows customers to utilise Microsemi’s PolarFire FPGAs to interface and interoperate with JESD204B, while utilising lower power implementation than competing devices.
