Infineon security chips enable world’s first NFC payment ring
NFCRing has introduced the world's first EMVCo compliant payment ring based on a contactless security chip from Infineon Technologies. The tiny, water-proof smart wearable works like a contactless payment card. Users can pay by simply holding their finger with the ring closely to any EMVCo contactless-enabled payment terminal. The ring uses NFC technology to communicate data over short distances of a few centimetres.

ST acquires ams' NFC & RFID reader assets

STMicroelectronics has acquired ams' assets related to its NFC and RFID reader business. ST has acquired intellectual property, technologies, products and business highly complementary to its secure MCU solutions serving mobile devices, wearables, banking, identification, industrial, automotive and IoT markets. Approximately 50 technical experts from ams have been transferred to ST.

ST & SAG deliver tiny NFC tags for IoT applications
STMicroelectronics & Securitag Assembly Group (SAG) have announced a tiny NFC Ferrite Tag that uses ST’s ST25 NFC tag IC for IoT data-transmission applications. Small, light and thin, the NFC Ferrite Tag can be surface-mounted during production through the metal pad that can be directly soldered to the PCB surface. It can also function when placed on metal products because of its anti-metallic interference characteristics.

The NT3H2x11NTAG 12C plus family of connected near-field communication (NFC) tags from NXP Semiconductors is now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics. The NTAG I2C plus family is the latest development of NXP NFC tags, combining a passive NFC interface and a contact I2C interfaces together with a non-volatile memory.
