The launch of IoT Planet Forum

IoT Planet will take place at Grenoble’s Alpes-Congrès convention centre on 4^th and 5^th November, 2015, bringing together big names in IoT suchas Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Orange, HP, LoRa Alliance, SIGFOX, Gemalto, Oberthur and others.

Grenoble, Capital of the French Alps, ranked by Forbes magazine as the world’s 5^th most innovative city in 2013, and awarded the 'French Tech' label for the global reach of its digital ecosystem, is a natural venue for this international forum on IoT. IoT Planet is officially supported by local authorities (Ville de Grenoble, Grenoble Alpes Métropoleand Conseil Général) and will be held under the patronage of Geneviève Fioraso, MP and former Minister of Higher Education and Research. Other partners include innovation boosters such as Digital Grenoble, Linksium (SATT), Inovallée, Minalogic, the SCS Cluster, etc.

The participants are big names in IoT such as Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Orange, HP, LoRa Alliance, SIGFOX, Gemalto and Oberthur, as well as prominent Grenoble players such as STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric, CEA Tech, Minalogic, Digital Grenoble. The Forum’s goal is to provide the participants with a better understanding of the huge opportunities opening up in the field of the IoT. Professionals in sensors, solutions for wireless communication, processing and securing data, applications and new connected products will also be in attendance.

Young innovative companies will be given a special share of attention at the forum. Grenoble and Europe are extremely well-endowed with creative start-ups and more than 20 have already confirmed their presence in the 'start-up corner'. The American IEEE association is joining up to run a pitch session to give these young innovative enterprises the chance to present their projects to a panel of international investors.

The forum mixes a plenary conference, an exhibition area and workshops (to promote the IoT activities of the Forum’s partners). The workshop sessions are short (45 minutes to 1 hour) and will be run during conference breaks. They will enhance and expand on the conference themes.

The plenary conference programme is divided into seven sessions: an introductory session to portray data transmission networks and how to secure them, followed by sessions on specific IoT ecosystems such as energy, transport, industry, wearables, healthcare and smart home. This structure and the sharing of different experiences in each ecosystem will make the participants familiar with the differences and requirements related to applications that involve a choice of different technologies.
