Axiomtek has unveiled the IFB122, a compact RISC-based DIN-rail industrial IoT gateway powered by the low-power Freescale i.MX 6UL-2 processor in the ARM Cortex-A7 micro architecture. Designed to meet the challenges in critical environments, it supports extended operating temperature ranging from -40 to 70°C, flexible wide voltage range 9-48VDC power input, and can withstand vibration up to 5G.

One PCI Express Mini Card slot, one SIM card slot, and two internal antennas are available for WiFi and 3G/4G connections. With the abilities to transmit data and manage various devices, the IP40-rated ready-to-run IFB122 is a cost-effective solution for remote control/monitoring management applications such as unmanned control room, industrial machine, automatic parking lot and traffic cabinet.

“Based on the RISC architecture, the budget-friendly industrial gateway has lower heat output and lower power consumption, making it suitable for applications which demand a balance between power and performance,” said Jessie Wu, Product Manager of Software and Solution Division, Axiomtek. “The built-in serial port, LAN port and USB port provide faster and more efficient data computation, communication and acquisition. Besides, digital input/output interfaces are available to support a wide variety of test and measurement applications. The wall mount bracket included with the IFB122 enables flexible installation.”

Utilising the power-efficient ARM Cortex-A7 processor, the robust DIN-rail fanless gateway comes with one 256MB DDR3 onboard memory and one 4GB eMMC flash memory for storage. While measuring only 31x100x125mm in size, it has rich I/O connections including two RS-232/422/485 ports, two 10/100Mbps LAN ports with 1.5KV magnetic isolation protection, one USB 2.0 port, and one digital I/O (2-IN/1-OUT). LED indicators on the front panel show the status of the device. The industrial grade DIN-rail embedded platform comes with Yocto embedded Linux to provide an open standard operating system for software programme development.
