Libelium announces the launch of the new WiFi module for the Waspmote sensor platform. Imec and Renesas Electronics report record ADC for next-generation high-bandwidth wireless receivers
At this week’s International Solid-State Circuit Conference (ISSCC2012), imec and Renesas Electronics Corporation report an innovative SAR (successive-approximation register) ADC (analog to digital converter) with a spectacular improvement in power efficiency and speed, targeting wireless receivers for next-generation high-bandwidth standards such as LTE-advanced and the emerging generation of Wi-Fi (IEEE802.11ac).
NEC Launches Indoor LTE Femtocell Base Stations
NEC announced today the launch of new indoor LTE Femtocell base stations for telecom carriers. The base stations achieve high-speed, high-volume wireless communications in indoor areas such as offices and homes. The new product is available in two models, one designed for enterprise and another for residential customers. The base stations will be available in the second quarter of 2012.
New record low-power multi-standard transceiver for sensor networks
Imec and Holst Centre announce a 2.3/2.4GHz transmitter for wireless sensor applications compliant with 4 wireless standards (IEEE802.15.6/4/4g and Bluetooth Low Energy). The transmitter has been fabricated in a 90nm CMOS process, and consumes only 5.4mW from a 1.2V supply (2.7nJ/bit) at 0dBm output. This is 3 to 5 times more power-efficient than the current state-of-the-art Bluetooth-LE solutions.

Developed by Radin Radio Controls with input from Alpha Micro, the new device features an EnOcean PTM 250 switch which is powered by kinetic energy through the action of pressing the switch.
Belden presents the new OpenBAT series from its Hirschmann product range
Belden’s new OpenBAT range from Hirschmann is the first modular system to enable industry-standard WLAN access points and clients to be configured via the internet.
