GNSS modules upgraded with 8th-Gen chip technology
The MAX, NEO and LEA GNSS modules from u-blox are now avilable in a multi-constellation positioning platform, designated the u‑blox M8. The module series provides a range of features including antenna management, integrated filters, data logging, crystal or TCXO, and rich set of interfaces.
LTE LNAs improve smartphone data rates by up to 96%
Designed specifically to enhance the data rate in smartphones, the BGA7x1N6 and BGM7xxxx4L12 series of LTE LNAs and Quad LNA banks have been introduced by Infineon. In order to increase system sensitivity and ensure the best possible user experience, the LNAs and LNA banks are located in both the diversity and main antenna path of the phone.
Charge smartphones with wireless inductive stand
A convenient way to charge mobile phones through inductive charging, the Elite series CE700 wireless charging stand from ADATA eliminates the need for cables and bulky transformers. When a compatible phone is placed on the charging pad (which doubles as an adjustable phone stand), power is automatically and wirelessly transferred to the device.
Transmitter enables 5V or 12V Qi wireless charging
Claiming to require half the components compared to other solutions, the bq500412 wireless power transfer circuit has been announced by Texas Instruments. The controller will enable designers to bring to market 3-coil, 5V and 12V A6 charging stations compliant with the WPC 1.1. specification.
5G WiFi Internet-box delivers fast, reliable content delivery
Introduced at the 2014 International Consumer Show, Swisscom's dual-band xDSL/fiber gateway is powered by four Broadcom chips. The BCM4360 5G WiFi 802.11ac transceiver, BCM63168 xDSL/fiber integrated access device, BCM53214 Gigabit switch and BCM54618 Gigabit Ethernet PHY are the devices enabling Swisscom to deliver fast and reliable video services wirelessly throughout the home.
AMC suits 4G, LTE & LTE Advanced applications
Designed for wireless processing applications including 4G, LTE, LTE Advanced and beyond, the AMC-V7-2C6670 is a high performance Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) from CommAgility. The module has the processing power of a Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA and two TI TMS320C6670 multicore Digital Signal Processors (DSPs).
WiFi 11n module is designed for the IoT market
Complementing the company's SN820x product family, Murata have announced the introduction of the SN8000 WiFi 11n module. Offering increased flexibility, the WiFi module enables Broadcom’s WICED WiFi solution to be run on customer-selected STMicroelectronics' STM32 based ARM Cortex M3 and M4 microcontrollers rather than a preselected platform.
4G devices support LTE category 4 and feature 3G/2G fallback
A line of LTE modules with UMTS/HSPA+, GSM/EDGE and GPRS fallback has been announced by u-blox. Designated the TOBY-L2 and MPCI-L2 modem series, the devices support LTE category 4 speeds up to 150 Mb/s down and 50 Mb/s up.
ODU satellite chipset expands reach for operators
An Outdoor Unit (ODU) satellite chipset that enables operators to deliver a wider range of services to more subscribers has been announced by Broadcom. Delivery of a wider range of services is achieved without additional satellite dish installations. Broadcom's BCM4551 offers a higher level of integration, while consuming less power than the previous generation chipset, and enables direct sampling of low-noise block outputs across worldwide ODU s...
5W chipset enables fast wireless charging
Enabling faster wireless charging of mobile devices, the enhanced TB6865FG power transmitter and TC7763WBG receiver chipset from Toshiba Electronics Europe as been made available. Supporting 5W power transfer and compatible with the QI standard 1.1, the chipset also features a rigorous Foreign Object Detection function and an integrated digital logic controller that reduces component count and minimizes design complexity.
