Lantiq has joined the ULE Alliance to combine forces for Ultra Low Energy solutions for the connected home. Lantiq shares the view of the ULE Alliance that DECT ULE is the best choice for home automation and actively contributes to further developing the standardization work for DECT and ULE (TS 102 939-1 and EN 300 175 series). Lantiq furthermore believes the Broadband Gateway / Router will be the central hub to control all automation services within the homes.

Why join the ULE Alliance?

The DECT/Cat-iq standards combine unique features like absolute robustness, longest reach, low power and unique market maturity. Integrating DECT ULE into the Broadband Gateway brings services for home automation / smart metering / home control, alarm functions, health- and cloud services into mass market deployment. By combining forces in the ULE Alliance – with strong partners like Arcadyan, Zyxel, Netgear, Deutsche Telekom, Dialog Semiconductor, DSP Group and many more – Lantiq enables its customers to benefit from standardized and interoperable solutions for the connected home.

Rene Kohlmann, Chairman of Board  of the ULE Alliance, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Lantiq as a member of the ULE Alliance. Having semiconductor companies like Lantiq in our alliance, ads a lot of value to our standardizing efforts and paves the way for market maturity of DECT ULE. We believe, providing standardized chipsets for Home Automation devices by our semiconductor partners will further push market introduction of Ultra Low Energy devices for the automated homes.”

“Lantiq has comprehensive expertise in DECT/Cat-iq and we actively contribute to standardizing bodies and the DECT Forum. Now it’s the next logical step for us to further leverage the unique features and advantages of the Lantiq DECT/Cat-iq technology into ultra-low energy and highly optimized semiconductor solutions for home automation – with the Broadband Gateway as the central information hub," comments Dirk Wieberneit, Lantiq Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Customer Premises Equipment Business.
